There are two types of underfloor heating, wet and electric.
Wet systems run off your hot water, they are either laid in place on top insulation boards and screed is applied over top or boards are stuck with tile adhesive pipes are ran into the boards and gaps filled with adhesive/latex/leveler to enable repairs then tile adhesive and tiles.
Electric underfloor heating is laid on to thermal boards and covered in latex/self leveler.
